The Department of Infrastructure and Steam Packet Company have issued an apology after motorists got stuck in huge queues during this morning's rush hour.
The DOI says the problems around the Sea Terminal were caused by a number of factors.
It has blamed the late arrival of the Ben-My-Cree and the port was busier than usual following cancellations of sailings yesterday due to adverse weather.
The Steam Packet said delays in loading meant car check in lanes could not be opened until 7:45am.
The Department will be working with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company to review the interim and permanent arrangements for vehicle check-in at times of very busy sailings.
