Tram Crossing Safety in spotlight as another vehicle hits Tram

Emergency services responded to a collision involving a tram and van in Laxey yesterday.

Two fire crews were called to the incident by the Mines Tavern at 12:20pm.

The two occupants of the van were treated for minor injuries by paramedics, while no one on the MER tram was hurt.

Crews were on scene for around 30 minutes.

The incident is the latest in a number of crashed where vehicles have collided with MER Trams. There are level crossing traffic signals on some crossings on the A2, but not others.
