The fall out from the cancellation of this year’s Rally Isle of Man continues as the event has been axed from the British Rally Championship for 2019.
The rally was cancelled due to difficulties with the Department of Infrastructure and their delays in issuing a road closure for the rally stages.
The Isle of Man event has been replaced by an event in Ireland where local authorities there, are keen to support motorsport because of the huge economic advantages.
The cancellation of Rally Isle of Man will see a loss of over £1m to the Isle of Man’s tourist and retail economy as well as huge reputational damage to an Island previously known as ‘pro motorsport’.
