Microchipping Dogs - Deadline is next month

Wed, 05 Sep 2018

Dog owners on the Isle of Man are being reminded their dogs must be microchipped from next month.

Microchips will be used to identify a dogs owner in place of the annual licence tags which are attached to a dog's collar.

The move will reduce costs for dog owners on the Island, who will no longer need to pay up to £20 per dog, per year, for a licence.

Dog owners have until next month to ensure their dogs are microchipped - a one-off procedure that is usually carried out by a vet.

After October 1st, any dog owner found not to have microchipped their animal could face a fine of up to £500.
