Douglas Borough Council's new bin lorry will help reduce the local authority's carbon footprint and make it safer for its workers.
The board has become the first on the Island to use a refuse collection vehicle with an all-electric bin lift system instead of a hydraulic system.
The Council says the system will save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions, as well as being much quieter than a similar hydraulic unit.
It also means the new vehicle is slimmer, so it safer for those operating the truck in narrow streets and confined spaces.
