Number of pupils getting top GCSE grades rises

The number of Manx students obtaining five GCSEs at grade C equivalent or above is up on last year.

The Department of Education and Children confirmed over two thirds of all grades obtained by local pupils were at grade C or higher, while almost 65% secured England and Maths at C or above.

The majority of Level 2 qualifications obtained by Manx students are Cambridge IGCSEs, along with a number of other qualifications.

More than 800 pupils say exams in around 50 different subjects earlier this year from performing arts to business studies.
