36 sepsis deaths since 2013

36 people have died from sepsis on the Isle of Man in the last five years.

Health and Social Care Minister David Ashford revealed in this month's Tynwald written answers that 36 deaths have been registered between 2013 and 2017.

Just two deaths were recorded in 2013, while 12 people died in 2015 as a result of the condition.

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused by infection.
