Less than a tenth of Island's primary school teachers are male

Less than a tenth of the Island's primary school teachers are male.

28 of the 300 teachers in the Island's primary schools are male as of the end of the 2017-18 academic year, while 272 are female.

However, 15 of the 31 headteachers are male, including one who has responsibility for two schools.

The figures were revealed in response to a Freedom of Information request.
