A new test for cervical cancer will be introduced on the Isle of Man next month.
From August 1st, an updated system where samples are tested first for HPV will be used on women taking part in the screening proramme on the Island.
Routine samples will be tested for HPV first as this causes the majority of cervical cancers.
Currently samples are examined for abnormal cells, and only then is the sample tested for HPV.
The Island's health authority says the new system won't make any changes to the test, and that evidence shows this method of screening is more effective.
The programme will be introduced across England next year.
