Southern 100 pays tribute to James Cowton

The Southern 100 has paid tribute to James Cowton following his death at this year's meeting.

The 26-year-old died following a four-rider incident during the 600cc Challenge race last Thursday.

The Southern 100 said Cowton made his intentions known during his debut at the event in 2012, securing a second-placed finish.

Organisers of the races described Cowton as well liked and respected by his fellow competitors, adding that he always had a smile and a cheerful word for everyone.
