The Chief Minister has confirmed the Manx Government is working on an EU Settlment Scheme in preparation for Brexit.
Howard Quayle revealed at this month's sitting of Tynwald that EU citizens currently living in the Isle of Man will apply for an immigration status directly with the Isle of Man Immigration Service.
Applicants will be judged on three core criteria - identity, eligibility based on residence in the Isle of Man and criminal checks.
Mr Quayle confirmed the scheme will be closely aligned to the UK's scheme, having worked with the UK Home Office to prepare the scheme.
He insists EU residents living on the Island don't need to take action now as there will be time to apply for immigration status ahead of the UK's withdrawal from the EU in March next year.
