A coastguard team were called out in the north of the Island after an upturned vessel was spotted in the sea.
Ramsey Coastguard, along with lifeboat crews from Ramsey and Peel were asked to search an area off the Point of Ayre following the sighting on Saturday afternoon.
Ramsey lifeboat was directed to the remains of a small boat by a coastguard helicopter, but it was determined the vessel was an old wreck which wouldn't have been used recently.
The wreck was towed to the shore where members of Ramsey Coastguard were waiting to remove it.
Having established no-one had been in the boat, the teams stood down over three hours after receiving the callout.
