Tributes have been paid to road racer James Cowton following his death at the Southern 100.
The Yorkshireman was involved in a four-rider collision near Stadium Bends during yesterday's 600cc Challenge race.
Isle of Man TT Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson said he was truly devastated by the news, adding that Cowton was a smashing lad.
23-time TT racer winner John McGuinness, who was watching yesterday's action at the Billown Circuit, paid tribute to Cowton and William Dunlop, who died at Skerries last week, describing them as two super talented lads.
Steve Mercer, who is recovering from injuries sustained during a collision with a course car at this year's TT, posted on his Facebook page that he is devastated by the news, and also urged Ivan Lintin to keep fighting after he was left in a critical condition.
The North West 200, Ian Hutchinson and the Ulster Grand Prix were among those also extending their sympathies to Cowton's friends and family.
