Tynwald will be asked to approve a £3.8m strategy to increase active travel on the Isle of Man at this month's sitting.
The strategy wants 20% of the Island's population to travel to work by walking or cycling by the time data is collected for the 2021 Census.
The Government aims to identify a 2.5-mile network of routes around Douglas which will allow more commuters to travel safety by foot or bike, including around schools.
£3.8m will be spent on active travel over the next four years if the project is given the go-ahead.
