The Department of Infrastructure will begin work to improve a number of the Island's roads next week.
The Department will be carrying out surface dressing, also known as tar and chip, on New Castletown Road, Ramsey Road, Douglas Road in Ballasalla and Archallagan Road.
The DoI says surface dressing is one of the most cost-effective forms of highway maintenance, which improve the texture of the road surface, increases skid resistance and seals cracks to prolong the life of the road.
However, the roads being treated will have a temporary 20mph speed limit on afterwards as the road can be slippery while the loose chippings are still in place.
A number of roads will also be treated with micro asphalt, which involved levelling ruts and holes in the existing surface.
