Fire crews are urging the public to be cautious when disposing of barbecues during the current spell of hot and dry weather.
Firefighters from Douglas spent four hours tackling a gorse and heath fire at Port Grenaugh caused by the careless disposal of a single use barbecue.
The team needed to use two off road vehicles and a water bowser due to the location and terrain involved.
The fire service is urging anyone having a barbecue during the current hot spell to be extremely cautious when disposing of the coals to make sure similar incidents are avoided.
