Manx residents on low or fixed incomes will be given free energy efficient lightbulbs in a bid to help cut their electricity bills.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has announced those eligible will be able to get five free LED lightbulbs, which use around 90% less energy than traditional bulbs.

A number of groups are eligible for the scheme including those in receipt of benefits or foodbank resources, those on the Manx Utilities priority care register and households with an elderly or disabled occupant.

The Government believes the extra cost of energy efficient lightbulbs makes it difficult for those on low or fixed incomes to afford them.

Further information about the initiative and energy efficiency advice is available from the Government's website.
