A Manx woman is celebrating two prestigious top 10 results in equestrian showing at the Royal Highland Show near Edinburgh.
Jo Brew, from Andreas, and her own 7-year old pony “Tower Soverign” (known as Teddy) along with 4-year old “Tower Danny Boy” (known as Danny) have been competing at the event which is a highlight in the UK countryside calendar.
On Thursday Jo finished a very credible 6th place in the 4/5/6 year old in-hand gelding class with Danny in what was his first ever show.
It was then Teddy’s turn, and he not only won his class but was then awarded the prize for best gelding across all age groups.
Jo told Energy FM “I keep thinking I need to pinch myself – an unbelievable day and yep I cried” of the horses she said “Danny was wired to the moon and Teddy was a lunatic walking to the ring but thankfully they both calmed down by the time they entered the ring for their classes.”
The Royal Highland Show is Scotland’s annual farming and countryside showcase. Held annually since 1822 the event attracts over 1,000 exhibitors, 4,500 head of livestock and almost 200,000 visitors across the 4-day event.
Exhibitors compete for the prestige of winning not only a prize ticket, but also for prize money and trophies worth over £1 million.
