The old Castletown Police Station will be transferred to the Manx Museum and National Trust.
The Manx Government previously listed the building on the open market, but local residents, Manx National Heritage and the areas MHKs wanted to see the structure kept in public ownership.
£100,000 will be used from the Trustees' charitable funds and proceeds from the sale of surplus office accommodation will fund the transfer.
Once the transfer has been completed, the Trust will consult over the future use of the building, with a view to ensuring the site is properly preserved while limiting the impact on public funds.
