The Health Minister has offered a sincere and unreserved apology to the family of a nine-month old boy.
Coroner of Inquests John Needham found that neglect at Noble's Hospital during the boy's birth contributed to his death.
Mr Needham has made a series of recommendation to the Department of Health and Social Care to ensure similar mistakes aren't made in the future.
David Ashford admits the finding of neglect is a matter of serious concern, and that the Department has worked to rectify the failings.
The Minister insists the DHSC has learned from the incident in terms of the management of maternity services and the work processes of healthcare staff.
