The wife of a TT rider injured in a collision with a course car earlier this week has provided an update on his condition.
Steve Mercer was left in a critical but stable condition when riding back to the Grandstand following the red flag incident at Churchtown on Tuesday, colliding with the car at Ballacrye.
Caroline Mercer posted an update on the 36-year-old's Facebook page, confirming he underwent surgery yesterday morning for pelvic and leg injuries.
He also has a broken ankle, heel and vertebae, a larynx fracture and damage to his neck which is currently preventing him from breathing without support.
Doctors are keeping him sedated while he recovers, but are happy with how his surgery went at this stage.
Mrs Mercer also thanked those who have sent messages of support since the incident.
