Mercer critical but stable after course car collision

An investigation is underway after a TT rider was left in a critical but stable condition following a collision with a course car.

Steve Mercer collided with the car at Ballacrye during practice last night.

ACU Events Ltd confirmed there is an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police kept a section of the course around Ballacrye closed for several hours after the incident.

Mercer has since been flown to Liverpool for further treatment after initially being flown to Noble's Hospital.

The course car was responding to the incident at Churchtown which resulted in the death of Manx rider Dan Kneen.
