Castletown Town Commissioners is seeking to borrow funds to purchase the Old Fire Station.
The local authority has presented a petition to borrow up to £200,000 to the Department of Infrastructure.
The site hasn't been used for almost a year after a new fire and ambulance station opened in the town.
The DoI has previously indicated that the site could be used for additional parking, but the Commissioners believe there's still value in the building.
The board's petition will be considered by the Department on June 18th. Anyone wishing to submit views on the proposals can do so by writing to the DoI's Local Government Unit at the Sea Terminal by June 18th.
