Age-based minimum wage categories are currently being reviewed on the Isle of Man.
Enterprise Minister Laurence Skelly confirmed at this month's sitting of Tynwald that he has asked the Minimum Wage Committee to look at a number of matters, including whether different age groups should have different minimum wage levels.
Minimum wage on the Isle of Man was increased to £7.50 for over 25s last year, but younger workers have a minimum rate of between £5.70 and £7.20, depending on their age.
Mr Skelly says the review has to balance the desire for an increased minimum wage against the commercial needs of businesses.
The committee will make recommendations to the Department for Enterprise and the Treasury shortly before a report is laid before Tynwald in the near future.
