PokerStars founder is richest Manx resident

PokerStars co-founder Mark Scheinberg is the richest person on the Isle of Man according to the Sunday Times' Rich List.

The businessman is worth an estimated £3.55bn, a reduction of £142m compared with last year.

The publication has revealed the richest Manx residents ahead of the full publication of the Rich List this weekend.

Peel Group chairman John Whittaker is second, having increased his wealth to £2.25bn, while Alki David and the Leventis family complete the top three, earning £300m over the last year to increase their total wealth to £2.2bn.

Canonical owner Mark Shuttleworth saw the biggest increase in wealth of any Manx resident over the last 12 months, jumping up by £340m to £500m, making him joint sixth on the list.

The nine richest Manx residents have a combined wealth of almost £11.5bn, growing by £772m since last year's list was compiled.
