A coastguard team was called out in the south of the Island following reports of a person in difficulty on the coast.
Members of Port Erin Coastguard were asked to check on the person at Buroo Ned near the Sound shortly after 6pm yesterday.
The call turned out to be a false alarm though as the person at the scene was found to be fishing.
However, the coastguard insists the informant did the right thing, and is urging anyone who sees something unusual on the coast to dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
