Police say abortion protests haven't broken laws

Thu, 03 May 2018

The Island's police insist recent anti-abortion protests haven't broken any laws.

A protest group have used graphic images of aborted foetuses in recent months as the House of Keys has considered the Abortion Reform Bill.

Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey revealed in this week's sitting that no complaints had been made to the police about the protesters, but the Constabulary warns making a complaint to officers won't necessarily result in the police taking action.

The police say the protesters are exercising their right to freedom of speech, and they have so far stayed within the criminal law.
