The Navy Bomb Disposal Team was called to the Island after an unexploded ordnance device from the World War II era was found in the north of the Island.
The device was discovered by a member of the public who was metal detecting near the coast at Smeale on Sunday evening.
The person contacted the police who requested members of Ramsey Coastguard cordon off the area until yesterday morning, when the bomb disposal experts arrived on the Island.
The Navy team carried out a controlled explosion, allowing the Coastguard to stand down by 9.30am.
The Coastguard is urging anyone who finds such a device to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
