Manx police insist anyone who comes forward to report historic abuse will be given full support.
It was recently claimed local officers didn't respond to a complaint from a man living in Norfolk, but the case hadn't been reported to the Isle of Man Constabulary by their UK counterparts.
The Manx force insists anyone who makes complaint about abuse shouldn't be discouraged as cases are always dealt with by experienced officers.
Officers say the victim is given support at every stage of the investigation.
