The Health Minister is urging all Manx residents travelling off Island to ensure they have valid travel insurance to avoid facing repatriation bills.
David Ashford warned those who don't have insurance face a bill of up to £20,000 if they need to hire a private ambulance to get them back to the Island.
The Minister issued the reminder in this week's sitting of the House of Keys after being asked what advice his Department gives to pregnant women travelling to the UK.
Mr Ashford confirmed all Manx residents would receive emergency care free of charge, but insurance is needed if they need to be transferred back to the Island.
He insists insurance is necessary for all local residents travelling off Island, not just those who are pregnant.
