The Island's Health Minsiter represented the Isle of Man at a British-Irish Council meeting in Scotland.
David Ashford was one of a number of ministers from around the British Isles to attend the meeting on social inclusion and the role of carers in Edinburgh.
Discussions included finding ways to support carers of all ages while praising the contribution made by voluntary organisations.
The Ministers agreed to explore the potential of social enterprises to tackle the issues.
The BIC was established as part of the Good Friday peace agreement to encourage positive links between the different Governments of the British Isles.
