The Island's Roads Policing Unit insists only drivers are to blame if they're caught speeding after a busy weekend of speed detection.
Officers dismissed a number of myths about speed detection devices after finding the weekend's good weather resulted in faster driving and riding on Manx roads.
The RPU confirmed devices are calibrated and checked before use, the beam isn't wide enough to have picked up another vehicle and that officers don't hide in bushes.
The team also said that fines don't go towards their Christmas party and that officers are trained to use the devices.
