Fire crews were called out after a 10kg LPG cylinder caught fire in Braddan.

The team from Douglas fire station was called to the rear of Strang Close after the cylinder used to fuel a gas burner had developed a fault and caught fire.

Officers had to cordon off the area and allow the contents of the cylinder to be spent before using a hose to cool the cylinder.

The fire service is urging anyone using a gas-fire barbecue for the first time in a while to carry out an inspection beforehand to ensure all connection are clean and secure, minimising the risk of a fire.
