The Infrastructure Minister says a plan to encourage pupils to use active travel to get to school is being drawn up.
Ray Harmer confirmed his Department is drawing up an action plan to urge school children to use active travel choices in the Island's schools and University College Isle of Man.
The Minister revealed the creation of a walking bus is being considered, as well as looking at options that have been introduced successfully elsewhere.
The DoI recently sought views from the public on plans to encourage the Manx public to walk and cycle more often.
Mr Harmer also said implementing such a strategy will require commitment from other areas of Government, as it will impact on health and education as well as transport.
