Tynwald appoints committee to investigate poverty

Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson gained support for the committee at this month's sitting of Tynwald

Tynwald has given the go-ahead to an investigation into poverty on the Isle of Man.

Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson successfully gained support to set up a select committee to look into the definitions, causes and Government policies on poverty.

The Speaker was one of three Tynwald members appointed to the committee, alongside Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse and MLC Tanya August-Hanson.

Legislative Council member David Cretney asked that the committee reports back to Tynwald by October.
