Annual dog licences will cease to exist on the Isle of Man from tomorrow as microchipping becomes compulsory.
Microchips will be used to identify a dogs owner in place of the annual licence tags which are attached to a dog's collar.
The Government says the current system is a costly manual process which risks the dog becoming separated from their tag, as well as costing owners up to £20 per dog each year.
Although the law changes tomorrow, dog owners have until October to ensure their dogs are microchipped - a one-off procedure that is usually carried out by a vet.
After October 1st, any dog owner found not to have microchipped their animal could face a fine of up to £500.
