The Snaefell Mountain Railway reopens today following changes to the independent braking systems used on the trams.
The Health and Safety at Work Inspectorate and a brake specialist have tested and reviewed the brakes ahead of the start of the new season.
The railway was suspended for a time last year after the brakes failed on a tram as it approached the Bungalow.
Procedures and training materials have been provided following the incident, while more modern braking and control systems will be installed.
Health and Safety bosses say they support the start of passenger services and will be closely monitoring progress.
