BlueWave to be issued a full Telecoms Licence

BlueWave Comunications may be granted a full Telecoms licence by the Island's Communications Commission. The Commission have issued a notice stating they intend to offer BlueWave the revised licence after a statutory consultation period.

It means the Company will be able to offer a variety of services including landline products similar to those offered by MT, Sure and Wi-Manx. Interested parties have until 15th April to comment, then the Commission will consider issuing the revised licence.

BlueWave was bought out by UK firm AQL following the tragic death of founder and celebrity, Stuart Baggs.

A spokesperson for AQL / BlueWave said:

"Bluewave is now entering the next chapter of its journey.  It’s core vision remains the same which is to drive competition and choice to residents.  The transition to a full license allows us to achieve those key aims and to compete on an equal footing with the incumbent operators.

Over the last two years, we’ve invested significantly in improving Bluewave’s infrastructure, support and processes and are now ready for the next logical step which is to provide telephony.  We’ll be expanding our team on-Island but with the support and 20 years of telecoms expertise within the aql team.

Bluewave will become an enabler for the many IT firms on the Island and delivering more services in partnership with those companies, especially in the business to business space. The license also allows us to better expand and support our very popular business LTE broadband service."
