Ramsey Town Commissioners expects to complete the purchase of Ramsey Courthouse in the next few weeks.
The local authority agreed to buy the site from the Department of Home Affairs last summer, but contracts formally completing the deal are yet to be finished.
Part of the deal includes arranging a new lease for the town's police station in Ramsey Town Hall, and the Commissioners confirmed negotiations with the Department are progressing well.
The board believes it will be able to commence the transfer of contracts and complete the purchase within the next few weeks.
Once the contracts have been exchanged, the Commissioners intend to seek views from the public about the future of the Courthouse, which it intends to use as a community facility.
