Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey MHK
The Home Affairs Minister wants to raise awareness of registering domestic appliances and having them regularly serviced.
Bill Malarkey revealed appliances had caused seven fires across the Island last year in this week's sitting of the House of Keys.
Mr Malarkey, who previously worked as a domestic appliance engineer, says registering a newly-purchased device means the owner will be notified of any safety issues
The Minister also insists regular services will help identify faults and prevent fires.
