Engineers are assessing damage to Douglas and Ramsey promenades following Storm Emma.
The Department of Infrastructure is removing the remainder of the surface on the Douglas promenade walkway after large parts were destroyed by waves on Friday.
The sea wall and railings will be assessed at low tide before plans can be made to resurface the area.
The walkway will remain closed between Regent Street and the Bottleneck car park while the clear up operation takes place.
Assessments are also underway in Ramsey to assess the extent of the damage there and determine how long it will take to repair the damage.
