The Island's fire service is urging landowners intending to burn heath to let the emergency services know in advance.
Firefighters have recently been called out by members of the public who have spotted fires on hills and farmland, only to find out the fires are controlled burns.
Heath burning is permitted to take place between September 1st and March 5th, meaning landowners only have a few days remaining to burn heath.
The Heath Burning Code states landowners should contact the Fire and Rescue Service at least 30 minutes before started such a burn as well as the Emergency Services Joint Control Room and the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
Full details of the code can be found on the Government's website.
