Schools closed due to weather

The Department of Education, Sport and Culture will keep all of its schools closed today because of the weather conditions.

The Department discussed the situation with the Department of Infrastructure and the Island's transport services before deciding it wouldn't be possible to open its schools.

Freezing temperatures and snow have left a number of the Island's roads slippery, with police urging motorists to take extreme care and allow extra time for their journey.

A weather warning for snow and ice remains in place until 2pm tomorrow.
