The Isle of Man Airport is to start operating a second X-ray machine at peak time in a bid to reduce queues at security.
The Department of Infrastructure confirmed it's asked the contractor to recruit the additional staff needed to allow a second line to be operated when Ronaldsway is at its busiest.
An automatic tray return system and boarding card readers will be installed, while the entrance to the security area is being moved, allowing the area to be remodelled and increased in size.
It's hoped the changes will start after Easter, but the Department is waiting for confirmation of equipment delivery times.
The changes follow months of complaints from passengers about the growing waiting times at security at the airport.
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer recently claimed in Tynwald that operating a second X-ray machine would cost around £150,000 per year.
