Isle of Man Creamery says it wouldn't be environmentally friendly for the company to use glass bottles instead of plastic.
The dairy producer is currently conducting a survey on its packaging, with a number of those responding suggesting the Creamery switches to glass bottles that can be recycled.
However, the Creamery believes the carbon cost of transporting heavy and fragile glass across the Island as well as the cleaning and sterilisation process would have a greater impact on the environment.
Instead, the company is planning to introduce sustainable plant-based cartons which would be easier to transport than glass bottles.
The Creamery estimates a glass bottle would have to be reused 20 times to have the same carbon footprint as a single use plastic bottle, but UK creamery Jacksons states their average usage is 13 times before the bottle has to be recycled.
The survey is open until February 14th, and can be found on the Creamery's Facebook page.
