Increase in hoax calls to emergency services
Mon, 29 Jan 2018
The Island's police are warning hoax calls cost lives following an increase in such calls to the Emergency Services Joint Control Room.
The Constabulary revealed hoax calls and calls which could have been dealt with by other methods have risen over the last month.
Police say hoaxes delay the emergency services reaching real emergencies, putting lives at risk.
The public is also being asked not to call 999 when unable to reach the police on a non-emergency number.
