The Island's police say a UK company conducting a survey about abortion is allowed to call Manx residents.
The Isle of Man Constabulary reported earlier in the week that the calls were against the Island's no cold calling laws, but has now confirmed surveys aren't classed as cold calling.
A number of residents contacted the police after being asked their views on abortion.
An update from the police said the company behind the survey will understand if those being contacted don't want to take part, and apologised for the earlier confusion.
A bill which would update the Island's abortion laws is due to have its second reading in the House of Keys next week.
