The Chief Minister has held talks with the Scottish First Minister over the Island's king scallop fishery.
Howard Quayle spoke with Nicola Sturgeon this morning in a bid to find a mutually acceptable solution to the problem of misreported catches.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture had hoped to make all fishing vessels report to a Manx port for a catch inspection, but the Scottish authorities objected.
Mr Quayle and the First Minister agree the fishery must be protected in the long term, and are exploring ways to ensure all vessels stick to catch limits.
The Government hopes to make a further announcement in the coming days.
