The Island's new Health Minister admits he faces a "huge challenge" after taking charge of the Department of Health and Social Care.
Chief Minister Howard Quayle appointed David Ashford to the post following Kate Beecroft's resignation last week.
In a post on social media, the Douglas North MHK expects some will think he's crazy for accepting the "poisoned chalice" role, but he insists he isn't underestimating the challenge.
Mr Ashford hopes he can use the opportunity to drive forward change and deliver a health and social care system that will be sustainable in the long term.
He also promised to invest his heart and soul into the job for as long as he remains Minister.
