The Island's police hope extra patrols will deter burglars over the winter period.
The Isle of Man Constabulary has launched Operation Oxygen - a campaign which is bidding to reduce break-ins and fuel thefts.
Police say dark nights can result in a spike in such crimes, so additional high-visibility patrols are being conducted, with officers speaking to pedestrians and motorists.
Officers will also be checking outlying and vulnerable properties during routine patrols, contacting owners if they have concerns.
The public is also being urged to check a caller's ID before letting them in and to contact police if concerned by a visitor.
